Chon Ji

Chon Ji literally means "The Heaven and Earth." In the orient it can be interpreted as the beginning of human history and the creation of the world; therefore it is the initial pattern for the beginning student. This pattern consists of two similar halves; one represents heaven and the other earth.

  1. Turn counter-clockwise, moving the left foot, forming a left walking stance toward B while executing a low outward block with the left outer forearm.
  2. Step forward with the right foot, forming a right walking stance toward B while executing a middle front punch with the right forefist.
  3. Turn clockwise, moving the right foot, forming a right walking stance toward A while executing a low outward block with the right outer forearm.
  4. Step forward with the left foot, forming a left walking stance toward A while executing a middle front punch with the left forefist.
  5. Turn counter-clockwise moving the left foot, forming a left walking stance toward D while executing a low outward block with the left outer forearm.
  6. Step forward with the right foot, forming a right walking stance toward D while executing a middle front punch with the right forefist.
  7. Turn clockwise moving the right foot, forming a right walking stance toward C while executing a low outward block with the right outer forearm.
  8. Step forward with the left foot, forming a left walking stance toward C while executing a middle front punch with the left forefist.
  9. Turn counter-clockwise moving the left foot, forming a right L-stance toward A while executing a middle side block with the left inner forearm.
  10. Step forward with the right foot, forming a right walking stance toward A while executing a middle front punch with the right forefist.
  11. Turn clockwise moving the right foot, forming a left L-stance toward B while executing a middle side block with the right inner forearm.
  12. Step forward with the left foot, forming a left waling stance toward B while executing a middle front punch with the left forefist.
  13. Turn counter-clockwise moving the left foot, forming a right L-stance toward C while executing a middle side block with the left inner forearm.
  14. Step forward with the right foot, forming a right walking stance toward C while executing a middle front punch with the right forefist.
  15. Turn clockwise moving the right foot, forming a left L-stance toward D while executing a middle side block with the right forefist.
  16. Step forward with the left foot, forming a left walking stance toward D while executing a middle front punch with the left forefist.
  17. Step forward with the right foot, forming a right walking stance toward D while executing a middle front punch with the right forefist.
  18. Step backward with the right foot, forming a left walking stance toward D while executing a middle front punch with the left forefist.
  19. Step backward with the left foot, forming a right walking stance toward D while executing a middle front punch with the right forefist.
