Hwa Rang

Hwa Rang is named after the Hwa-Rang youth group which originated in the Silla Dynasty in the early 7th century. The 29 movements refer to the 29th Infantry Division, where Taekwon-Do developed into maturity.

1. Step with the left foot to form a sitting stance toward D while executing a middle pushing block with the left palm.

2. Maintain a sitting stance toward D, execute a middle front punch with the right forefist.

3. Maintain a sitting stance toward D, execute a middle front punch with the left forefist.

4. Pivot on the left foot forming a left L-stance toward A, execute a twin block with the outer forearm.

5. Maintain a left L-stance toward A, execute an upward punch with the left forefist bringing the right side fist in front of the left shoulder.

6. Form a right fixed stance toward A in a sliding motion, while executing a middle front punch with the right forefist.

7. Pull the right foot forming a left vertical stance toward A, execute a downward side strike with the right knifehand.

8. Step forward with the left foot forming a left walking stance toward A while executing a middle front punch with the left forefist.

9. Turn counter clockwise moving the left foot forming a left walking stance toward D while executing a low outward block with the left outer forearm.

10. Step forward with the right foot forming a right walking stance toward D while executing a middle front punch with the right forefist.

11. Pull the left foot slightly forward while bringing the left palm to the right forefist, while bending the right elbow about 45° outward.

Perform as a trapping motion

12. Execute a middle side piercing kick to D with the right foot while pulling both hands in the opposite direction.

Lower the right foot forming a left L-stance toward D, while executing a middle outward side strike with the right knifehand.

13. Step forward with the left foot forming a left walking stance toward D while executing a middle front punch with the left forefist.

14. Step forward with the right foot forming a right walking stance toward D while executing a middle front punch with the right forefist.

15. Turn counter clockwise moving the left foot forming a right L-stance toward E while executing a middle guarding block with a knifehand.

16. Step forward with the right foot forming a right walking stance toward E while executing a middle front thrust with the right straight fingertip, bringing the left backhand under the right elbow joint.

17. Step back with the right foot onto the DE line and turning counter clockwise moving the left foot forming a right L-stance toward F while executing a middle guarding block with a knifehand.

18. Execute a high turning kick to DF with the right foot and lower it to F.

19. Execute a high turning kick to CF with the left foot and lower it forming a right L-stance toward F while executing a middle guarding block with a knifehand.

Perform moves 18 and 19 in a fast motion

20. Turn counter clockwise moving the left foot forming a left walking stance toward C while executing a low outward block with the left outer forearm.

21. Pull the left foot forming a right L-stance toward C, execute a middle front punch with the right forefist.

22. Step forward with the right foot forming a left L-stance toward C while executing a middle front punch with the left forefist.

23. Step forward with the left foot forming a right L-stance toward C while executing a middle front punch with the right forefist.

24. Slip the left foot forming a left walking stance toward C, execute a pressing block with an X-fist.

25. Slide forward with the right foot forming a right L-stance toward D, looking over the right shoulder, while executing a rear thrust with the right side elbow.

26. Bring the left foot to the right foot, turning counter clockwise to form a close stance toward B while executing a side front block with the right inner forearm while extending the left forearm to the side downward.

27. Maintain a close stance toward B, execute a side front block with the left inner forearm, extending the right forearm to the side downward.

28. Step forward with the left foot forming a right L-stance toward B while executing a middle guarding block with a knifehand.

29. Bring the left foot to the right foot and then turn clockwise moving the right foot forming a left L-stance toward A while executing a middle guarding block with a knifehand.
